NEW DINOSAUR ABYDOSAURUS

In 2010, a team of paleontologists have discovered a new Dinosaur species in Utah, USA. Most unusually they discovered four heads, two still fully intact, from a quarry in Dinosaur National Monument, in Eastern Utah. The discovery of skulls is incredibly rare, certainly for the initial identification of fossils.
 
The Dinosaur belongs to the group of gigantic, long necked herbivores such as Brrachiosaurus. The four specimens found were all juveniles.
 
The fossils date from the Early Cretaceous, 104 million years old.
 
It is thought that rather than chew their food, Abydosaurus tended to grab and swallow. They had a very limited chewing system, with small teeth, and rapid tooth replacement
 
The name refers to Abydos, the Greek name for the city on the Nile River, that was the burial place for the head and neck of Osiris, the Egyptian God of life, death, & fertility.
Mcintoshi honours the American paleontologist for his contribution to the study of sauropod Dinosaurs.
